Star Hopper Brewing Co.

Brews from the far reaches of the cosmos.

Craft beer based around the concept of the ingredients being gathered from the far reaches of space. A series of bespoke illustrations of spaceships give each bottle a charming character along with subtle indications of the beer’s flavors. Each beer features a different brewing ship to help customers identify the different brews based on color, the complex illustrations are eye-catching and meant to be explored as the customer drinks the different beers. The narrative behind the brand is further expanded in the copy which uses space exploration and resource gathering terms to talk about the beers' different flavor profiles.

In the Penal Colony

The story of the worst form of torture, bureaucracy.

Series of magazine spreads for Franz Kafka's 1914 short story In the Penal Colony which emphasize the complex bueracracy of the torture process Kafka describes. I also wanted to convey the gritty reality of the scene Kafka describes; an offensively filthy and neglected penal colony contrast with the elaborate mechanisms of the torturous execution device the narrator describes.

Adventure Postcards

Creating a magical environment one postcard a time.

A series of loosely related postcards based on cute animals adventures in an ever expanding forest. I make these postcards whenever I have time as a way to explore using watercolor and worldbuilding; I think the best way to describe them is Richard Scary meets Matisse, cute animals explore bright, colorful, semi-abstract landscapes. These are all created at standard four by six postcard size using a combination of watercolors and acrylic inks, and sometimes a little bit of gouache. Though there isn't any set story, I tend to think of them as taking place within the same world.

Outcome

Series of Watercolor Postcards

Dog Show Poster

The dog park is the best place on earth.

Screenprinted poster around the theme of dogs for Telegraph Gallery's The Dog Show where a group of illustrators were asked to make posters around the theme of Dogs. The printed piece is 11 x 14 inches on 100# paper using six colors. I chose to illustrate a bunch of different dogs playing around at the park. I based the dogs on real breeds but also played with creating my own types of dogs to play in a wide open field.
